Houlier’s coaching tactics don’t always work for us either. Due to our rotation system we happened to be down in defenders today, and Bram decided it was his turn in goal. This left our defense a bit more under pressure. Similar to last week we had a strong opponent, but we were more then a match for them. With Braeden (today’s captain) and Ryan leading the attack, Harry providing support and Alex defending strong the first half was tight. Burton had a slight upper hand and despite brave and good goalkeeping we were down 1-0 at half time.
By then we had changed the site and the extra impulses from Kyle and Jack balanced the game, both in play and in score line. Also Chris caused disruption in midfield. Not long after Jack finished off a good pass from Braeden, Braeden lifted us ahead. Changes at Burton’s side put pressure on us again. Harry was strong in goal and Bram seemed to be defending in all places at once. This was even though not enough and clever play with good passing allowed Burton to equalize.
The bottom of the second half was tight. We had an excellent attempt from Jack and Burton needed the wood work to prevent them from going behind. In the dying minutes Burton created another good chance and converted. Thrapston fought till the end but we were not able to get our equalizer.
A game in which we can all be proud of each other and again a good game from which we have all learned.
Bram with his excellent goal keeping the first half and solid, clean defending in the second was our man of the match.
